We work all developmental delay and disorder children with intensive and holistic approach focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy, gross and fine motor therapy, physical therapy, sensory integration/ occupational therapy, behavior modification, relation development therapy, applied behavioral analysis using optimistic and child friendly approaches and clinician directed models.
We started Shishu Pragathi Child Development center from 2014 we worked with newborns, infants, toddlers, children with various developmental concerns, delays and disorders providing physical therapy, sensory integration, early intervention, cognitive therapy, behavioral and speech and language therapy, art therapy, remedial therapy, parental counselling, individualized developmental plans.
What is speech and language therapy?
Speech and language therapy is an effective and evidence based scientific discipline provided by bachelors and master trained speech and language professionals to infants, toddlers, children and adults with speech and language problems, communication disorders, articulation disorders, voice disorders due to neurogenic, psychogenic, traumatic conditions, genetic syndromes.
Speech and language therapy is provided to toddlers and children to improve understanding and expression skills of language for children with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, cerebral palsy, developmental motor disorders, auditory processing disorders, sensory processing disorders apraxia of speech, intellectual disability, learning disorders, slow learners, stammering or fluency problems, speech clarity problems due articulation and phonological disorders.

Who is a speech language pathologist?
Speech language pathologist who further trained with early intervention is trained to improve infants, toddlers and children to catch up milestones and grow on par with cognitive skills, behavioral, speech and language, communication skills, play skills, fine-motor functioning and literacy skills development.

How does speech language pathologist help children with autism spectrum disorders?
Speech and language therapy is provided for children with autism spectrum disorders to improve attention span, understanding speech and language components like processing syllables, phonemes, words, phrases and sentences, encourage children how to meaningfully engage with toys, objects during play, respond to commands, recite rhymes, do actions for rhymes, encourage imitating actions, emotions, expressions, sound repetition, body movement, improve behavioral skills, cognitive skills, social interaction skills, reading and writing skills, self-help skills development.

Feeding and swallowing therapist
Expertise speech language pathologist who further trained to work on feeding and swallowing skills management in newborns, infants, Toddlers and children work on assessing delayed of difficulty in feeding due to developmental disorders, screen addiction eating disorders, distractive eating disorders, picky eating habits, difficulty in eating textures like solids, liquids on par with their age, sensory defensiveness in touching wet foods with fingers and hands, difficulty in chewing solids, limited food repertoire skills.
Speech language pathologist with feeding expertise will work on improving attention towards eating, reduce distraction,

encourage oral awareness of food, guide parents’ what utensils to be used, milestones and texture of foods need to be introduced to children according to their developmental age, alertness to aspiration, improve four phases of eating.
Toddlers and children with difficulty eating and has aspiration issues is further provided advanced feeding treatment options like gastric tubes to meet nutrition and dietary requirements of everyday life.
Speech and language pathologist cum feeding expertise will work with textures directly in therapy sessions, perform oral exercises, massages to improve oral awareness, reduce sensory issues, improve oral range of motion of jaw lips, tongue and oral muscles.

Role of early intervention
Early intervention plays preventive role as a primary and secondary prevention leading to improving infants, toddlers and children to improve fast pace as well as structural and functional changes in brain to promote best prognosis.
Early start of therapy improves child development in all areas of development follow ladder or chain of normal milestones in fast pace promoting social and academic development, scholastic progress reduces severity of diagnosis making child to progress functionally making them as normal as possible.
To make an infant, toddler and children are eligible for early intervention need regular developmental assessment from birth to three years to assess different areas of development through milestone observation, formal developmental scales assessment and counselling parents according to risk factors and development.
